About the One Handed Mom

Hi, my name is Baila Paluch, and I am the One-Handed Mom!

Immediately after the birth of my youngest child, I had an aneurism, leaving me with lingering right-side weakness (a euphemism for near uselessness).

As an Orthodox Jewish woman with ke”h a large family, many of the adaptations they taught in rehab didn’t apply to me. (Wear clothing a size or two larger than you need. Ha, which teenager is letting her mother get away with that?)

They don’t teach you how to organize a freezer full of 9×13 kugels, single-handed. They don’t think about hanging skirts or putting on a Shabbos robe. Dressing a toddler. Putting a sheitel on a shaitel head. All the trappings of frum living.

That’s why I decided to start this blog. It’s a blog for moms who are too busy with life to wait for assistance for anything they can possibly do themselves. It’s a place for YOU to share YOUR tips, too. I, for one, am always on the lookout for new hacks, so please, no idea is too silly.

About that freezer?

  1. Use loaf pans instead of 9x13s whenever feasible.
  2. Wrap absolutely everything in good-quality ziplock bags before freezing, to help them slide out with more ease from underneath the deli roll and the apple crumble.
